To day was the last day. the house that we had been working on was getting less work that needed to be done so it split into 2 groups. i was in a house that was hanging sheet rock. it was really fun. haha.

We put in a long day today. We met at the staging point at 0730, went to our house immediately and started to work. The kids worked very hard all day long. Some of the chaperones did as well. I was largely a hindrance. We put in pre-finished flooring, set ceramic tiles, and mixed and smeared cement. Everyone was beat when we got back to the Urban Center. We cowboyed up, cleaned up, and went to St. Anna’s for evening services followed by red beans and rice and a very authentic New Orleans four piece jazz combo. The fact that these kids were still awake amazed me. I am writing with one eye open, and one sock on. AND we do this gain tomorrow ( except for the red beans and jazz) Time for me to hit the sleeping bag.
Grace has every right to be extremely proud of this group of young persons. They done us proud today!

Brad and I were up at 0500, and Met Vivian in the kitchen. She had already brewed strong coffee to get the day started. The youth got up a bit ( hour and a half) later. We will be out the door in a short headed for the warehouse to get the day’s work started. This afternoon maybe we can all give you all a run down on what we did. The staff here in New Orleans has been wonderful, and the briefing we got yesterday was worth the trip. I have a much clearer picture of what happened here now, and have begun to really resent the picture painted by the national media. They never fail to disappoint me in their coverage, and this turns out to be no exception.

Grace Parishoners,
The group has arrived in New Orleans, met with the staff, and have gotten settled in the Urban Center. The kids had a great morning on the beach in Mississippi and we spent a half hour parked on the I-10 Lake Ponchartrain bridge en route to NOLA. All is well, as we sit and plan dinner and breakfast tonmorrow.
